Retirement

Our goal is to provide long term financial strength to every family we work with, regardless of the ups and downs of the financial markets. The emphasis is on developing a strategy that is geared towards a family's specific financial goals and objectives.

You cannot solely depend on the stock market or Social Security to provide the income needed to cover expenses in retirement. During the 1990's, the popular thinking was that all you had to do to be successful financially was invest most of your savings into growth mutual funds. "Hope for the best and the market did the rest." As we know now, that investment philosophy does not always work. In addition, the costs of living longer (especially healthcare) are going up dramatically; even if the stock market does not.

Further, we have learned to use strategies that position our client's retirement funds in a manner that achieves steady and consistent growth. It has been our experience that these kinds of strategies have had the most success weathering the financial storms of the recent decade. We call these types of strategies "Hitting Singles." We don't try to hit home runs. We would prefer to move consistently and with purpose towards our client's goals.

While many financial planners/wealth managers/stockbrokers try to build their practices by increasing their firm's recurring revenue, we believe in building our client's net worth by establishing a recurring revenue program inside of their own retirement savings plans.

A detailed analysis is at the heart of most of the planning we will do. It can answer most, if not all, of your questions about retirement, minimizing taxes and meeting goals. It is very comprehensive and we spend a lot of time thinking through "what if" scenarios. Below are examples of the kinds of questions this analysis can address.

  • How much should you be saving to meet your retirement goals?
  • Should you save in taxable accounts, IRAs, ROTH IRAs, company retirement plans or self-employed retirement plans? How much can you save?
  • Can you afford a new home? A second home?
  • How much can you afford to spend on a child's wedding? Your own wedding?
  • How do you make the most from your 401(k) or 403(b)?
  • What impact will an inheritance have?
  • How much income should you expect from your portfolio over time?
  • How should you pay down debt?
  • How do college or private school costs affect your overall financial picture?
  • What role will taxes play in your future cash flow?
  • Do you have enough life insurance?
  • Do you have too much life insurance?
  • When can you afford to retire?
  • Should you take early retirement?
  • Should you take a lump sum and roll it over to an IRA?
  • Should you convert some or all of your traditional IRA to a Roth IRA?
  • Should you be investing in an annuity?
  • How can you save for retirement if you are self-employed?
